Student Internship: UMO Strength and Conditioning Program
In the Spring 2024 semester, I completed a 12 week, 480 hour internship at the University of Mount Olive's Strength and Conditioning Program.
Tanner Tolson, the Head Strength Coach, was my supervisor during this experience. This program provides student-athletes with a competitive, safe training environment to put them in the best position to compete in practices and games. We look to prepare our athletes for all disciplines of athletics consisting of strength, speed, agility, conditioning, mobility, and mental toughness.
During my internship I had to complete six main objectives:
1. Problem solve in times of stress
2. Use my educational knowledge and athletic background to influence in the weight room (Bodypump)
3. Work with injured athletes and develop workouts for them
4. Understand the differences between athletic teams and their appropriate seasons
5. Coordinate with S&C social media
6. Personally train women's softball in mobility
At the end of my internship I was able to successfully achieve all six objectives. I was very grateful for this opportunity as it prepared me to start a career and begin the journey to graduate school.

Les Mills Bodypump
What is it?
Bodypump is a choreographed weight training class that uses the REP effect formula (light weight/heavy reps), which utilizes time under tension to build, strengthen, and tone your muscles.
How Long is the Class?
Classes can range from 30-55 minutes, but the regular class includes 10 different tracks to focus on major muscle groups throughout the body.
